This year we are proud to provide a short film by Fabian DRIEHORST, film
student of the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne.
What is special with this short is that it really needs an original score and
sound design to be finished. That means you will have the chance to be the
original composer/sound designer of the short feature film THE SCRAPMAN. Fabian
Driehorst himself will be part of the jury together with one of his mentors at
the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne.
Please see the preview of the film below.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
In the weeks after the competition screening during SoundTrack_Cologne the winners should be willing to make modifications in score and sound design during an intense cooperation with the director, Fabian Driehorst.
To start composing and creating sound design for “The Scrapman” read Fabians briefing carefully. It can be found after applying for the competition on our homepage together with the film, sfx-tracks and dialogues.
You can work with this material or create completely new sounds. Everything is just an offer except of the dialogues that have to be part of the final sound file you send us to join the competition. To make it easier to handle concerning sync points etc. the original sound mix is also in the quicktime movie. BUT: Always be aware that these sounds are only preliminary and used for the fine-cut version.
It will be your free decision to decide whether you want to record the final score for “The Scrapman” together with the Radio Orchestra of the WDR or find your own solution together with Fabian Driehorst. That means concerning the Prizes everything else stays the same.
There is just one exception: It could be that Fabians choice is not the choice of the rest of the jury. In that case the winner of the European Talent Competition will receive one of the Prizes mentioned below. And the favourite composer / sound designer of Fabian Driehorst will still have the chance to produce the final score and sound design for “The Scrapman” and be part of the cast for the films carrier on international festivals.
